Industri portable media player (PMP) memang nggak ada matinya. Berbagai pemutar musik jenis baru dengan fasilitas supercanggih makin banyak bermunculan. Dedengkot pemutar musik, Sony Walkman, tak mau ketinggalan.

Pada 29 Agustus lalu, dalam ajang pameran consumer goods, Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) 2008, di Berlin, Jerman, mereka memperkenalkan tiga seri PMP baru. Pada seri S, ada tipe NWZ- S736F dan NWZ- S738F. Pada seri E, ada tipe NWZ- E436F dan NWZ- E438F serta tipe NWZ-B133F dan NWZ-B135F pada seri B.

Sony Walkman NWZ- S736F & NWZ- S738F

Sony Walkman S-Series merupakan top-end dari seluruh seri pemutar media baru yang dirilis Sony. Seri itu juga merupakan line-up produk Sony Walkman yang paling revolusioner. Sebab, menyertakan fitur in-flight noise canceling yang mampu mengurangi noise dari lingkungan sekitar ketika pengguna mendengarkan musik.

Dengan fasilitas tersebut, Walkman juga bisa dikoneksikan dengan perangkat audio video pada pesawat. Dengan demikian, musik dan video yang disajikan di pesawat bisa dinikmati dengan kualitas audio tingkat tinggi serta minim gangguan suara mesin pesawat.

Dalam S-Series, juga terdapat fitur SensMe(TM) yang secara otomatis membuat playlist sesuai keinginan pengguna. Walkman akan menganalisis koleksi musik sang pemilik dan menawarkan playlist berdasar speed, mood, dan rhythm lagu, yang bisa dipilih sendiri oleh pengguna. Dalam fitur itu, Walkman mampu menawarkan hingga 11 playlist kepada penggunanya.

Yang makin memanjakan pengguna, S-Series juga kompatibel dengan beragam format audio dan video. Dalam PMP itu, terdapat software bernama Content Transfer yang memudahkan pengguna saat drag and drop file audio dan video ketika transfer dari online music service.

Ada dua tipe yang menghuni S-Series. Yakni, tipe NWZ-S736F yang berkapasitas memori 4 GB (dijual seharga USD 150 atau sekitar Rp 1,38 juta) dan NWZ-S738F dengan kapasitas memori 8 GB (dibanderol USD 180 atau sekitar Rp 1,66 juta).

Sony Walkman NWZ- E436F & NWZ- E438F

Kualitas audio dan video tingkat tinggi menjadi kemampuan yang diunggulkan dari E-Series. Layar 2,0 inci TFT color LCD, white LED-backlight, QVGA (240 x 320 piksel) dengan 262,144 warna memungkinkan pengguna menonton video dengan kualitas audio superjernih.

Seperti halnya S-Series, seri E juga format friendly. Kompatibel dengan beragam format file audio dan video serta mampu transfer file non-DRM. Kelebihan dari S-Series ada pada layar yang dibuat lebih lebar sehingga lebih nyaman jika dipakai menonton video.

Selain itu, sisi plus E-Series ada pada ketahanan baterai. Daya tahan maksimum untuk memutar musik mencapai 45 jam. Pada S-Series, hanya mampu bertahan maksimal 40 jam untuk memutar musik.

Sony Walkman tipe NWZ- E436F punya kapasitas memori 4 GB, dijual seharga USD 100 (setara Rp 916 ribu). Tipe itu tersedia dalam warna hitam, merah, biru, dan pink. Tipe lain, Sony Walkman NWZ- E438F, berkapasitas memori 8 GB dan tersedia dalam warna hitam, merah, dan pink. Tipe tersebut dilepas ke pasar dengan harga USD 140 atau sekitar Rp 1,28 juta.

Sony Walkman NWZ-B133F & NWZ-B135F

Seri B merupakan varian low-end dari tiga seri baru Sony Walkman. Dibandingkan ''saudara''-nya yang lain, fasilitas B-Series mungkin paling minim. Tanpa kemampuan memutar video dan memasang gambar. Namun, varian itu tetap menawarkan kualitas suara tingkat tinggi yang menjadi ciri khas pemutar media bikinan Sony.

Secara bentuk, B-Series tidak jauh berbeda daripada MP3 Player yang sekarang banyak dipasarkan. Namun, sebagai pemanis, Sony Walkman memasang lampu illuminator yang akan menyala sesuai irama musik ketika tombol bass ditekan.

Bagi yang punya bujet terbatas, namun ingin merasakan kualitas sound mewah ala Sony Walkman, B-Series bisa menjadi pilihan tepat. Untuk memperoleh tipe NWZ-B133F yang berkapasitas memori 1 GB, cukup merogoh kocek USD 45 (setara Rp 412 ribu). Jika ingin menyimpan lebih banyak lagu, pilih tipe NWZ-B135F yang berkapasitas memori 2 GB dan dijual seharga USD 60 (sekitar Rp 550 ribu)
